How to use this tool
Enter a city to find its IANA time zone, current local time, and UTC offset for calls, travel, and remote meetings.
Coordinate global video calls and overseas travel schedules effortlessly. Instantly look up current local times, UTC offsets, and Daylight Saving Time (DST) active statuses for major world cities.
💡 3 Quick Steps to Get Started
Type any major world metropolis (e.g. London, New York, Tokyo, Sydney).
See current clock time, relative hour difference from your local device, and UTC offset.
Check if Daylight Saving Time is currently in effect to avoid miscalculating meeting hours.
When it helps
Turn a place lookup into time zone, local time, and UTC offset information.
How it works
The GoGo Tools backend uses Open-Meteo Geocoding to resolve the city and IANA zone, then formats current local time and UTC offset. If the place is ambiguous, enter a fuller city and country.
Worked example
Example: enter Taipei to get Asia/Taipei and UTC +08:00.
Limits and data handling
The browser waits up to 20 seconds, and the backend allows up to 30 lookups from the same source in 60 seconds. Invalid input, no place, rate limits, timeout, or provider failure shows an error. Duplicate city names and future daylight-saving rules still require verification.
City and country text plus locale are transmitted through the GoGo Tools backend to Open-Meteo Geocoding. GoGo Tools does not build personal search history, and analytics records the tool identifier rather than location text or returned content.
World City Time Zones & Global Meeting Scheduling Guide
1. IANA Time Zone Database Architecture
Global temporal synchronization operates against Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Operating systems utilize the IANA Time Zone Database (tzdata), mapping geographic regions to authoritative political boundary definitions (e.g., `America/Los_Angeles`).
2. Daylight Saving Time (DST) Transition Hazards
DST shifts alter bilateral time differences twice a year. For example, the difference between London (UTC+0 / UTC+1) and Tokyo (UTC+9) changes between 9 hours and 8 hours depending on British Summer Time (BST).
3. The Golden Overlap: Multi-Continent Scheduling
Coordinating asynchronous and synchronous workflows across APAC, EMEA, and Americas requires identifying overlap windows where all participants remain within standard waking hours (08:00 - 18:00 local).

FAQ
City time zone and local time lookup: How should I enter the city and country?
Enter at least two characters for a city, adding the country when names are ambiguous, for example Taipei, Taiwan.
City time zone and local time lookup: What time-zone result comes from Open-Meteo Geocoding?
The GoGo Tools backend uses Open-Meteo Geocoding to resolve the place and IANA zone; local time and UTC offset are formatted by the GoGo Tools backend. Results show source and fetched time, and the same query may be cached for 600 seconds.
City time zone and local time lookup: What if the city cannot be found or the time zone may be wrong?
The browser waits up to 20 seconds, and the backend allows up to 30 lookups from the same source in 60 seconds. Invalid input, no place, rate limits, timeout, or provider failure shows an error. Duplicate city names and future daylight-saving rules still require verification.
City time zone and local time lookup: Where is the city and country text transmitted?
City and country text plus locale are transmitted through the GoGo Tools backend to Open-Meteo Geocoding. GoGo Tools does not build personal search history, and analytics records the tool identifier rather than location text or returned content.
