Who it helps

  • Show net area, area after 0–50% waste, whole sheets, optional screws, and optional material cost.
  • Net area = (gross area − openings) × layers; adjusted area = net × (1 + waste); sheets = ceil(adjusted ÷ (sheet width × sheet height)); screws = ceil(sheets × screws per sheet). All prefilled values are editable starting examples, not universal construction standards; adjust them for the product, supplier requirements, and site conditions. To avoid meaningless zero results, lengths must be at least 0.001 m, areas at least 0.001 m², and volumes at least 0.000001 m³.
  • 40 m² gross, 4 m² openings, two layers, 1.2 m × 2.4 m sheets, 10% waste, and 32 screws per sheet gives 72 m² net coverage, 28 sheets, and 896 screws.

FAQ

Drywall material calculator: What areas and sheet details should I enter?

Enter gross wall or ceiling area, door/window openings, layers, sheet width and height, and 0–50% waste. Use m² or ft²; screws per sheet and sheet/screw unit prices are optional.

Drywall material calculator: How are sheets and screws calculated?

Net covered area = (gross area − openings) × layers. Adjusted area multiplies by (1 + waste). Sheets = adjusted area ÷ sheet area, rounded up to whole sheets. If screws per sheet is supplied, the resulting screw count is also rounded up to a whole item.

Drywall material calculator: What limitations or errors apply?

Openings must be smaller than gross area. The estimate does not decide fire or moisture rating, fastening schedule, joint compound, framing, ceiling support, or code compliance. Before purchasing, confirm sheet type, thickness, orientation, joints, and local requirements with the supplier.

Drywall material calculator: Are areas, prices, or results stored?

No. m² or ft² areas, layers, waste, optional prices, and costs are processed locally in the browser and are not uploaded or stored. GA4 does not receive inputs, quantities, or results.
